THE CARD’S STORY BY: KYLEN BAIER

For the Two of Swords I have chosen the werewolf – the idea behind this is that there is an internal conflict between man and wolf. Th e woman is a new werewolf and hasn’t come to accept what she is and move forward by embracing her wolf side. She hides behind a blindfold and avoids the conflict. Instead it creates more conflict as the human and wolf cannot come together. Th e crossing swords belong to her two sides and they must find a balance. Th is card resonated with me as I frequently procrastinate and avoid difficult decisions because I am avoiding conflict or possible consequences to my decisions, but my avoidance always ends up making the situation worse rather than better.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

In a field of calming chamomile, a werewolf stands, poised and ready to take a step forward. But the way is blocked by two crossed swords, one belonging to each of its two forms. Not held or wielded in aggression, but still, ever present. For now, the werewolf is trapped. It may seem like putting this off is helping. You may even have managed to create some peace and quiet for yourself by doing so. But it’s not really working. It’s a temporary solution at best, but what is more likely is that you’re actually making things worse for yourself in the long run. You need to stop avoiding the issue. Instead, try taking a long, honest, hard look at the situation, and let the facts of the matter present themselves. Th en make a firm decision, and act on it!

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: WEREWOLF

The myth of the werewolf can be traced back as far as the tales of the hero Gilgamesh, and again in the ancient Greek tale of Lycaon, who angered Zeus and was turned into a wolf along with his sons. By day the creature lives as a mortal, but under the light of the full moon, they transform into a wild creature. A mixture of both human and wolf, they prowl the land looking for prey upon which to feed. Th e dual nature of this creature, living in both the world of the human and monstrous creates a truly mythical Two of Swords.
