THE CARD’S STORY BY: PETER BRADLEY

The Claiom Solais, or sword of light, was a legendary item that needed the completion of 3 quests to acquire, not just the defeat of the giant that guarded it, by finding its weak spot. Thus, the cutting power of the intellect to solve a problem

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

A sword of light splits the heavens, bringing its radiance to the world below as a hand reaches skyward. Illuminated by the light, a butterfly soars free towards the heavens. Th e time has come for logical, thought and objectivity. An opportunity for a new way of thinking, a deeper understanding and clarity is being offered to you. But to reach it, you need to cut away all the “fluff ” and nonsense that is causing confusion and doubt. Don’t let your emotions cloud the issue, but instead rely upon cold, hard facts, and make ethical, honest thinking your priority.

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: CLAÍOMH SOLAIS

The “Sword of Light” myth is prevalent in many legends of Irish and Scottish folklore. Oft en the tale tells of a hero rescuing the sword from some great evil, though possession of the sword is not enough to guarantee the hero’s victory over this enemy. In these versions, the key to the sword’s power is revealed by a young woman, oft en the hero’s future bride, and it must be used in a specific way, finding the ‘weak spot’ of the evil creature. Th e need for intellect as well as force in this myth made this an ideal Ace of Swords.
