Fearing the Death Card

Posted on Updated on

Fear of the Death card in a #Tarot reading is very prevalent among people who receive readings, as well as those who may own a deck of cards and try to read for themselves.

I always look at all the cards, in order to determine it’s purpose in the reading.  Very rarely is it an indicator of a physical death. Let’s take a look at this particular image. It is from one of my favorite decks, Tarot of the 78 Doors.

There are many details here to see. Look at the open gate of the cemetery. Beyond that, you see new horizons. Remember, with death comes life. It’s a continuous cycle. The figure here appears to be in mourning. He is holding an hourglass. For me, this brings to mind the phrase which appears at the top of my page. “Time is the most important thing we’ve been given.” Are you letting yours slip through your fingers?

You see, this is not merely a card of loss, but one of gain. Transition through the closing of doors and opening of new ones is indicated. But, quite often we may be preoccupied with what we have lost. What is needed here is to take notice of what awaits you. You see here, not only death, but growth and life.

I think the best example I can offer as to the Death card would be the transition of Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner.  This cannot have been an easy decision so late in life. Picture, if you will, Caitlyn sitting on the grave, with Bruce’s name on the headstone. This will give you an idea of the power of transformation that is indicated here. But, the rebirth has been a happy one. It is something that was much needed to continue down the true path of life. What in your life needs to die away in order to step into your truth and be your best self?

It’s no coincidence that the Death card is number 13. Many people also fear the number 13. I am including an article I found here, for a little backstory on the Death card and it’s association with this number.

So, remember, if you are ever sitting in front of a Tarot card reader, do not cringe if the Death card is selected. There may very well be a beautiful message there for you. Life always changes; there will always be transitions. Embrace them and enjoy the journey. ❤️

True Love and Tarot Cards – What’s in Your Future?

Posted on Updated on

What is true love? Love and love relationships are the most frequent subject of #Tarot inquiries. We all need some form of love in our lives. Getting it right is usually the challenge.

I actually believe there’s a right and a wrong way to ask the Tarot about your relationships. First, you must ask with the intent of accepting the answer. This is where most people tend to to get hung up on the possibility of love in their lives. They become fixated on a relationship that didn’t or isn’t working out as planned.

Honestly, when a door is closed, in all likelihood it should remain so. I hear many questions that sound like this…”We broke up 3 months ago and we haven’t spoken, but I really feel like we should get back together”.  Now, how silly does that sound to you? And, it’s not a question, it’s more a statement of desire, based on the fact that no one else has come along to fill that space in your heart. It doesn’t make it right just because it appears to be the only option.

My first objective as a reader is to get to the bottom of the situation. Why are you apart? That is my question. If your answer is that you were always fighting, then I’m going to suggest we rephrase the question. Let’s not continue to beat a dead horse. Or, maybe he beat you. Bottom line is it doesn’t sound like a relationship on which to pin all your hopes and dreams.

The other day a friend asked me a valid question … “Will I ever marry again?” My answer went something like this… Don’t discount the idea of finding true love and just being a couple. Marriage does not make it so. After all, love is love, with or without marriage. I proceeded to tell her that I did see someone for her. He isn’t with anyone, but he’s not even thinking of looking for you. However, he will find you. Don’t turn down social invitations, as he may very well attend the same function as you.

One of the most beautiful readings I’ve ever done was for a friend in California. She deserves true love, and she will definitely have it. One thing the Tarot can do is show you things way in advance of an actual event. I know she still listens to that reading. Sometimes, things which are life-altering changes show up in a reading simply because it will be the key turning point in your life and you need to believe it is coming.

I have included relationship readings as part of what I do. Not all relationships should be left behind or discarded. Some do require a little work to maintain a necessary balance. I truly do believe in true love. And, I hope you believe as well.

So, remember when asking your questions to think of what you really need. A certain person? Or someone who will love you until the end of time?

Bird on a Wire – Tarot Messages

Posted on Updated on

I recently did a reading for someone with some really big life-changing decisions to make. Mostly, I’m very specific about things. Occasionally, I throw out something a little more off the wall and abstract.

I told her that when she saw all the birds, she would be entering the next phase in her life. Something was different about the birds and their activity. A week went by, and she needed to begin to address these decisions regarding her business.

There were two offers to consider. She was meeting with one of the companies at a restaurant. She chose the restaurant. She chose the outdoor table. Also with her was her regional manager. When they were seated, she noticed seagulls in the area. She was rather hoping they did not try to swoop in for her shrimp. Instead, one of them decided to give her a sign by flying over and pooping on the table between them.

This is the deal she has decided to choose. It’s the one which will benefit her the most in the long run. So, crazy as it may sound, the appearance of the birds has signaled a new phase. This is only one of the reasons I love to record my readings. I simply let the words fly!

Often, unusual things can be said to you in a Tarot reading. Take heed, for what sounds silly, at the time, will ultimately have a huge impact.

Tarot Etiquette – Do’s and Don’ts

Posted on Updated on

Yes, there is such a thing. Even if it’s a one-time only reading, there is such a thing.

I can remember some years ago friends of mine were willing to pay $150 per person to go have someone read their cards in person for them. They called from a phone booth and gave fake names when they scheduled their appointment. Needless to say, their reading was still right on point.

However, if you feel the need to hide yourself from a reader, well that’s just wrong. I will admit there are likely many unscrupulous ones out there. Find a respected tarot reader through friends and family. So, what’s my point here? TRUST…you must trust your reader to deliver the message you are meant to hear.

You know, just as much as you want to like your tarot reader, you need for your tarot reader to like you. Good readers will develop a relationship with you. The guidance only gets better.

The most important thing you can do is provide accurate feedback. It’s not about whether the reading is right or wrong. Often, things are discussed which have not yet happened. But verification of circumstances is important. It’s not unusual to speak at length about a situation without even knowing what it is.

So, here are some general tips to improve your tarot experience:

1.    Be honest with your reader, don’t be fake;

2.    Don’t be vague when making inquiries;

3.     If the reading is in person, listen, then reply;

4.     Thank you is not feedback. You hit the nail on the head is feedback…followed by how that is so;

5.     If your reading does not resonate with you, should you blame your reader? Or are you simply unwilling to hear the message that is being given?

Remember this, not all readers are the same. Don’t let a past bad experience prevent you from having a good one in the future. Mutual respect is important.

Let’s Talk Tarot – Using Photographs

Posted on Updated on

I have been reading #Tarot cards long before there was even the thought of the internet. The Jetson’s were everyone’s idea of technology. For so many years, obviously the only people I did readings for were face to face.

Internet and smartphones have opened doors of communication never thought possible. So, now you ask me what happens to my abilities as a Tarot reader. Absolutely nothing. All these modern advances have had no effect on me. I believe in adapting with the times.

So, where do pictures fit in this conversation? There are two schools of thought. One is you should be able to read for someone you’ve never met without a photo. Can I do that? Yes. But, I love seeing for whom I am reading.

When I focus on a photo of the person I’m reading, I do so before and during the shuffling of the cards. Some of these things defy explanation here, but I can honestly tell you I find the details of the reading to be more vivid.

I encourage everyone to submit a photo of just themselves along with their reading request. Questions and subsequent readings may include photos of other pertinent people in your life. Just because your photo is solely of you, it doesn’t mean the reading will only include you. What it assures is that it will be for your life.

Thank you for taking the time to include your photo(s) when requesting a reading. I look forward to our online experience.

Hang in There!

Posted on Updated on

How many times have you heard this? Probably too many, I’m sure.

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who hasn’t experienced difficulties in their life. That rough patch often feels unbearable. You may think the universe has singled you out and that you’re the only one with these experiences. You are not.

Often, the answers just aren’t clear. Sometimes help needs to come from outsiders, sometimes it needs to come from within. While you’re hanging out waiting for that miracle, take the time to reflect on what has put you in this position. Was it choices that you made? Or was it the direct action of others?

You see, when an area of life comes to a screeching halt, and we are left dangling without a net, we need to determine why before we can return to a firm footing. When you realize what has created your plight, you must take the steps to ensure this never happens to you again. Otherwise, this may become a repeated pattern.

So, what does this have to do with #Tarot, you ask. Everything. A Tarot reading can shed light on the situation. It can offer guidance where you may have thought there was none. I’ve been doing this 45 years, and the common theme among those requesting a reading, is seeking guidance for the area they just can’t seem to resolve themselves. If there is to be light at the end of the tunnel, it helps you to keep the faith knowing that it’s coming.

You can resolve it. But, first you must accept the reason why you are holding on for dear life. So, while you’re hanging there, don’t forget to look around and see the truth in the matter. It will bring you to a better place.

And perhaps you’re tired of hearing this, but…Hang in there!
