This is a more serious transit for Mercury, as it leaves fun-loving Sagittarius, and takes on a more goal-oriented way of thinking.  There is a greater focus now toward completion, perhaps reaching year-end deadlines, but nose-to-the-grindstone energy is here to get the job done. This will, however, be an extra-long stay for Mercury in the earthy sign of Capricorn, and will include a retrograde from December 13, 2023 through January 1, 2024, with the pre- and post-shadow dates being November 25, and January 20.
