4 of Swords

Card of the Day – 4 of Swords – Friday, May 31, 2019

Posted on Updated on

Remember, we were talking about stepping stones earlier this week? They are indeed leading to that new life. Some are already very aware of pending events which will steer them in that direction. Others are learning, step by step, which way to go. The 4 of Swords is about various forms of recovery, and today you can take another step toward that new life, even if only in some small way.

There is the possibility that a time out may be needed just to allow yourself to breathe. Perhaps take a long weekend to rejuvenate mind, body, and soul. This card reminds you that any remaining issues will still be there upon your return.

See you here tomorrow!

THE CARD’S STORY BY: MIKE TENEBRAE

I went with an ogre – a creature generally defined by base desires. But maybe some are different. After all, humanity is predatory in so many ways, the key is to rise above it and contemplate deeper things. This ogre, worn out from his personal crusade, tired from old wounds and long journeys has taken refuge in an old shrine. He sits down to rest and contemplate a life well lived, satisfied that it was for something other than personal indulgence. He lays his sword at his feet – a companion to three others there – and under the caring gaze of a mother and child portrayed in the warm glass, begins to drift away into a peaceful sleep.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

In an ancient tomb the Ogre, weary from his trials and tribulations, lays down his sword. Sunlight shines through the window beside him, a comforting image of family, but he pays them no heed. He is tired, and needs rest. No matter how busy you are, you need time to rest, or you’ll burn out. You can try to fool yourself that “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”, but your mind and body aren’t going to listen. You’ll make mistakes, and your mood will dip. Especially when your to do list is full, make time for you – walk away from it all, just for a few minutes. Relax and refocus your energies – when you start up again, you’ll make better progress for that time away!

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: OGRE

Usually depicted as a brutish and stupid creature, the Ogre is featured in many tales and myths as an adversary. They are named for the Etruscan God Orcus whose cannibalistic tendencies they are oft en shown as emulating. In some tales, villains who devour enemies (literally or figuratively) are described as an Ogre or as acting in an “Ogrish” manner. Being a monstrous character, they are constantly under attack, so we felt it would be an intriguing character for the Four of Swords.

Card of the Day – 4 of Swords – Friday, April 5, 2019

Posted on Updated on

April 14, 2010…what was life like then? If only you knew what was to come, for that was the last time you experienced a New Moon in Aries without Uranus, planet of shock and surprise, also being in Aries. Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster since that time. New Moon blessings, my friends! Today is not only the New Moon in Aries, occurring at 15°, it is also the first time in all these years that Uranus has moved on from Aries, not to return for decades. So, what does all of this mean for you? You have come a long way, through life’s fiery changes, stormy trials, and path-altering experiences, and yet, there is still that which hangs over your head, begging to be resolved.

Recovery is one of the words often associated with the 4 of Swords, and most appropriate at this time. If you are aware of what Aries energy means for you, then you probably realize it is in line with an area of life which still needs to recover in a big way, in spite of all the progress and changes you have manifested thus far. You may not feel such a minor card carries significant weight, but today, this 4 of Swords speaks volumes, for you are at a crucial point. In the coming days and weeks, you are setting about putting things straight at long last, whatever that entails, so as to embark on a new journey in the not-too-distant future. For more on this New Moon in Aries, I have prepared a special video, 30 minutes in length, available now on Patreon, or in my Members Only Area. Don’t miss out on my FREE Month offer available to all newcomers who were not subscribers in 2018 or 2019. For complete details, please see my blog post from April 2.

See you here tomorrow!

Card of the Day – 4 of Swords – Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Posted on Updated on

Deadlines loom; issues still hang over your head, and, you may feel as though you are burning the candle at both ends trying to make it all happen. The 4 of Swords always seems better suited for a weekend, when chillaxing is easier to do; it is an indicator that a respite may be needed. So how you do this in the middle of your work week, when obviously you are way too busy? Perhaps unplug for an hour; take lunch by yourself, and instead of dragging yourself to the mall for holiday shopping, merely take some time to just breathe.

It is important to note that this time of year can always bring up a day or two that leaves one in need of a break. Go ahead and take that time out. Make it a mini one, if you can, and know that any fire that did not need to be put out today will still be there tomorrow. So, do what you can and take the time to recharge your soul today. You will be glad you did.

See you here tomorrow!

Featured Card of the Day – 4 of Swords – Considerate Cat Tarot by Madeleine Illustration

Posted on Updated on

Artist: Madeleine Belanger

Website: http://www.consideratecat.com

Card Meaning

Take a break. You need it and badly. To be able to be your best slef you must be able to rejuvenate yourself. Take five minutes if that’s all you can squeeze in.

Card of the Day – 4 of Swords – Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Posted on Updated on

Happy Halloween, everyone! Every good witch needs to catch a break as the festivities of their season end. With October now behind us, and November upon us, we would all do well to regroup and recharge before embarking on the biggest game-changer month of the year. The Moon will be in Leo, simply perfect for finding the absolute best costume. It is doubtful you can take it easy the entire day, but by evening, just chillaxing may be the name of the game.

Aside from words such as respite, rest, and relaxation, this is also a card of recovery. We are in the midst of too many powerful astrological aspects to mention, but, suffice it to say that over the next eight days, there are phenomenal, extreme energy shifts, poised to set you off on that road to recovery, that one where you get to fix what needs fixing. So, if there is anything hanging over your head that still needs to be dealt with, know that you will be able to do so. In the meantime, put your feet up and know that tomorrow anything hanging over your head will still be there.

See you here tomorrow!
