Featured Card of the Day – The Hanged Man – Crow Tarot by M.J. Cullinane

Posted on Updated on

Artist: M.J. Cullinane

Website: http://www.enchanteddecks.com

Card Meaning

The crow hangs from the blossoming cherry tree allowing his wings to fall in complete surrender. He stays still, leaning into the position and allows the blood to rush in to nourish his brain. He has let go and is at peace, away from the raucous noises of the roost. It is in the silence he will discover the answers he needs to help move a project or desire forward. The Hanged Man asks that you put the situation or plan on pause so that you can look at it from a different angle. There may be a vital element that you are missing, and the result may be a longer delay. The Hanged Man may suggest getting away from the situation both mentally and physically so that you can recharge your energy and approach the issue with a renewed vitality. This card may also represent a project put on hold due to an external force out of your control, and the only course of action is to wait patiently.

Featured Card of the Day – The Hierophant – Crow Tarot by M.J. Cullinane

Posted on Updated on

Artist: M.J. Cullinane

Website: http://www.enchanteddecks.com

Card Meaning

The Hierophant crow is pragmatic and does not take unnecessary risks. This crow appears at a time when a conventional approach is needed to resolve a situation or help further a project. This card brings a warning that now is not a time to think outside the box, but instead seek knowledge from a well-regarded institution or person. The Hierophant’s role is to stand before others as a mentor and spiritual teacher. He is deeply connected with the divine and could represent a need to seek out wisdom that comes from combining with our higher self through a professional healer.

Featured Card of the Day – The Hermit – 78 Tarot Mythical

THE CARD’S STORY BY: DELPHINE LEVESQUE DEMERS

As we go through life we collect a variety of views, philosophies, opinions, and tools to live our life – some become outdated, some remain relevant. The Hermit reminds us to pull back, time to time, and review those elements of us to decide what becomes our own personal path/truth. I have illustrated the Hermit as a Vampire, solitary in nature, guiding his own way through the dark, friend to himself because in the end… who else will he be stuck with longer? The further he pushes into that darkness, the more important that personal light will become. FIND YOUR GLOW!

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

The Vampire has chosen to strike out on his own and live a solitary existence. Walking away from the clamour of his bat companions, all he needs is his lantern and staff – symbols of his wisdom and power over himself. You’ve achieved as much as you can where you are, so now it’s time to evaluate what you really want, and how best to achieve it. Get away from external distractions, even social media, and find a way to be on your own. Or unplug and create a place of peace and solitude, where you can dig in, and indulge in some contemplation and reflection. No matter how busy you may be, make the time.

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: VAMPIRE

Vampires exist in the folklore of many cultures and are possibly one of the most popular supernatural beings within literature and legend. They are undead, and feed off the life essence of the living, usually by drinking blood. According to most legends they cannot be in the sun, or they will be burned. By necessity, this means that vampires live a fairly distant, nocturnal existence, resulting in an introspective, brooding character that would make a perfect Mythical Hermit.

THE CARD’S STORY BY: TIFFANY TOLAND-SCOTT

The Fisherman and His Wife is a tale about a man who catches an enchanted fish and lets it go. As thanks for being spared the fish grants the fisherman’s wishes, but the fisherman’s wife is the one making all the wishes. At first her wishes are realistic – a hut instead of a pig-sty – but quickly her wishes become more and more profligate until finally she offends the fish by wishing to be in charge of everything including the fish. The fish takes back all of her granted wishes and puts her back in the pig-sty she came from. To me, the story is the perfect representation of the Page of Pentacles, both upright and reversed. The Page has the ability to make all of their dreams come true, but if they daydream too much none of their dreams will come true.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

It’s time for realistic enthusiasm. The ideas are burgeoning within you, driving you to build on them, so keep your eyes open for opportunity. You’re ready…just make sure that you stay practical. Don’t rush in, risking it all for a get rich quick scheme and end up regretting it. Instead, put the work in…It’ll be worth it! The Page of Pentacles often represents a person in your life – young at heart, giving you the chance security. Or suggesting you embrace your physical nature, taking care of your health – reminding you to connect to nature, and keep moving through life.

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: FISHERMAN AND HIS WIFE

The Fisherman and his Wife is a folklore tale in which the fisherman catches a golden fi sh, who offers wishes in return for being released. The fisherman’s wife is the one who makes the wishes, starting off small and asking for simple things. But she ends up getting too greedy, and losing it all! Th e “morality tale” of this legend, reminding the reader to maintain a sensible level of desire, we thought this was a wonderful Page of Pentacles!

THE CARD’S STORY BY: REGAN KUBECEK

I found the card spoke to me of disconnect and removing one’s self from opportunity and possibility. I saw a solitary figure, deep in thought and lost in their own space and familiar surroundings. But not looking beyond. They seemed to be focused intently on inward concerns and struggles. Becoming caught up in routine and dissatisfied with their lot. All these are essentially true of the four of cups. Yet looking deeper the message is not so black and white, it is not all about being stubborn or self-absorbed. It is also about reflection and taking time to reevaluate your situation. To take the time to see all the other things on offer, to be mindful and yes careful. But to also look beyond yourself and consider so much more.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

The Selkie sits amongst the waves and sea shells as the water crashes against the distant shore. She cannot focus, she is distracted and dissatisfied, searching for happiness within. You’re in danger of withdrawing too much into yourself – introspection can be very positive and grounding, but there can be too much of a good thing! Yes, you need to look inward & work things out, ignoring unnecessary distractions, but don’t lose sight of what’s right in front of you. Take some time by yourself, for reflection, to rebalance and reconnect to your emotions and spirit, and decide what you want to do. Then shake yourself free, ready to act, energized and enthused!

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: SELKIE

Legends of the Selkie come originally from Scotland, but go as far afi eld as the Faroe Islands. Te Selkie were believed to be beautiful men and women who lived as seals when in the sea. Should they come ashore they could remove their skin and walk as humans on the land. It was said that if a female Selkie’s skin was stolen, then she would be forced to live as the wife of the man who had taken it. These stories usually have a tragic ending, with the woman finding her skin and returning to the seas and leaving loved ones behind, or being trapped on land, forever longing for a home to which they can never return. The constant seeking happiness of a land-bound Selkie represents a fi tting parallel to this card.
