Card of the Day – 9 of Swords – Wednesday, July 3, 2019
As of today, we have entered The.Space.In.Between. That is right, in two weeks, there will be another Eclipse, occurring this time as a Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse at 24° Capricorn on July 16. Today, the Moon is still in Cancer (where yesterday’s Total Solar Eclipse happened) for the better part of the day. Mercury is preparing to retrograde in four days, and Saturn is opposing the North Node in Cancer today. This all makes for some very intense energies, to which anyone is bound to fall victim, no matter how hard you try to keep things upbeat.
The 9 of Swords serves as a reminder that thoughts are things, and this card is more about the mental anguish which someone can put themselves through, simply by overthinking, and always thinking the worst and that the other shoe is about to drop. These doubts and fears which one tends to conjure, and certainly yesterday’s Eclipse energy, can contribute to this, making this a great training exercise for maintaining a positive mindset. In all honesty, no one call pull off this feat of glorious positivity 24/7, but it is important not to let one’s thoughts go down that rabbit hole, imagining implausible scenarios, which serve no other purpose than to hinder a good night sleep, cause wrinkles, and raise blood pressure, just to name a few. Recognizing that you allow yourself to fall victim to these nightmarish tendencies is the first step in overcoming anxiety where there does not need to be any.

Coupled with the Mythical theme on this deck, the story I wanted to tell was of victims suffering from sleep paralysis. Many sufferers report the feeling of a malevolent presence in the room while they struggle with the terrifying inability to move. Curiously, in many cultures, the experience is explained by the appearance of a twisted old woman that comes on the edge of waking to steal your breath. The Night Hag. Sometimes I feel tormented by feelings and thoughts that only I can hear, a susurrus from the shadows just outside reality. Relief finally came when I did not try to escape these dark whispers, but when I learned the difference between the gifts they offered and their lies.
THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN
A young girl, drowsy and waking to a brand new day is suddenly struck by terror. Some terrifying monster is holding her down, she cannot move, cannot escape, and cannot get past the night into the day. Don’t let your fears paralyze you and take over your life. MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: NIGHT HAG
Th e Night Hag features in a wide range of mythology and folklore as the nightmarish creature who causes sleep paralysis, oft en by sitting on the victim’s chest. Sometimes as an incubus, a mare (the origin of the word nightmare), a jinn, a demon, spirit or ghost, the result is always the same – a terrifying feeling of something or someone pressing down on you, preventing you from moving, usually just as you wake. Th e way in which your worries and concerns press down on you, causing you to be “stuck” in a nightmarish mindset in this card, the night hag was the perfect fit.

Card Meaning
Alone in her nest, the crow wakes from yet another nightmare. Scared to raise her head, she cowers as the images of being trapped in a cage or caught in a deadly battle consume her thoughts. The Nine of Swords suggests worry consumes you. There is an issue at hand that needs addressing and inaction has manifested itself in the form of anxiety and fear. Although the source of your worry may not be difficult to tackle, the concern around this issue has the potential to manifest into the thing you fear most.
The Nine of Swords is a reminder that thoughts can become things, and that includes negative aspects of life.

It is entirely possible during the nights of the 5, 6, and 7, to experience off-the-chart dreams, perhaps to be construed even as nightmares, in part, courtesy of the Pisces Moon. Pay attention to the messages your dreams are trying to send to you now. Do not be fearful, Google their components for clarity if need be. The 9 of Swords is all about those doubts and fears, things which go bump in the night, and generally restless sleep, nightmares, and lack of sleep due to overthinking and making a mountain out of a molehill.
The Moon entered dreamy Pisces late in the day on the 5th, just in time for you to lay your head on your pillow. Pisces is known as the dreamer, and is ruled by Neptune which is interacting with Venus today. With Venus now in Capricorn, I say take your dreams and make them work for you in some practical manner. Artists and other creative types may take away from their vivid dreams the concept for a fantastic new work of art. Do not let your dreams rule you or cause you fear; turn them into something viable which you can share with the world!

Card of the Day – 9 of Swords – Tuesday, January 8, 2019
Things that go bump in the night…how have you been sleeping? As we navigate the space in between eclipses, with so many recent energy shifts, I do not doubt there are some of you out there becoming a little bit anxious, perhaps wondering which way it will all go. The answer to that is actually, the direction you choose to go. Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear, and building up false challenges and nightmares in your mind, does not help you to proceed in a positive manner.
With the 9 of Swords it is highly likely someone is making a mountain out of a molehill, creating self-doubt where there should not be any, and over all, generally waiting for the other shoe to drop…probably because that shoe has dropped so many times in the past. This time, however, it is up to you to release those fears and take the necessary steps to create the life you truly wish for yourself.

All this talk about increased optimism with Jupiter now back home in Sagittarius, and still there is worry! Everyone has a tendency to do this to themselves, considering how thing were since 2011-2012, it is very easy for doubts and fears to take hold. Perhaps you are just having a moment, unable to convince yourself that your hopes and dreams can become a reality. Remember, everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.
The 9 of Swords has a way of highlighting those things that go bump in the night; when bad dreams, nightmares, and feeling riddled with worry and unable to sleep, you become the posterchild for this card. Rather than let your doubts and fears get the better of you, take a good look at them, and when Neptune goes direct in less than two weeks, you can transsform your outer world with what you have learned about yourself.

New Moon blessings, everyone! Today is the New Moon in Virgo, and such a positive New Moon it is! Before discussing the 9 of Swords, let us first talk about what makes this New Moon so positive. On September 12, only three days from now, a sextile between Jupiter and Pluto will occur. What are your intentions for this New Moon? What do you wish to manifest? This is possibly your greatest opportunity for good fortune and manifestation in all of 2018. Note, to reap the benefits of this good luck sextile, make your moves now through the 11th, as the energy is always better as it is building in the leadup to the actual event. The potency afterward is always on the decline.
Ok, so how did we get a 9 of Swords in the middle of one of the best New Moons of the entire year? There are always plenty of things going on in the Universe to affect the energies, but, most notable is the Moon itself opposing Neptune. This tends to conjure up fears and confusion, allowing one to deceive oneself into thinking that everything is wrong and that nothing will ever be right. Which is basically the meaning of the 9 of Swords. Self-doubt and unfounded fears can run rampant now, but remember, you are in the know. And what you know is that it is just energy, and that the Moon and Neptune are pulling the wool over your eyes. Do not focus on the illusions of this and allow it to put you into a state of sleeplessness or anxiety, rather, focus on the sextile and something you have been wanting to manifest for quite some time. This will be where your energy is best served.

Card of the Day – 9 of Swords – Saturday, July 28, 2018
No doubt there are many of you out there who have not been sleeping right. Whether it is nightmares, or worry, or not even knowing why you can not, one thing is for sure…a lack of sleep can tend to lead the mind astray and create a mountain of fears where there need not be any. Anyone remotely in tune with the ways of the Universe has to be feeling this in some way, and left to wonder what lies on the other side of all of the intense energies which we have been experiencing.
The 9 of Swords can very often represent fears and doubts which are totally unfounded, and there is a tendency to simply blow things out of proportion. Know that you do deserve the things for which you have been hoping, but that, overthinking, overanalyzing, and overall worrying too much, and making a mountain out of a molehill will get you nowhere but tired. Allow the Universe the room to do its thing, and you just focus on getting a good night sleep.
