THE CARD’S STORY BY: RAVYNNE PHELAN

Longmu was born in 290BC in China near the Xi River. One day she found a smooth white stone. It was a dragon egg from which five dragons hatched. She loved her hatchlings, nurturing them until they grew into large dragons who all loved her in return. They helped her and her people by hunting fish, and creating rain to end a drought. Over time, stories of Longmu and her dragons reached the ears of the Emperor, who summoned her to court. But by then, Longmu was old and frail. The dragons knew the journey would kill her, and so they kept her in the village, protecting her until her death.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

Longmu sits, surrounded by her beloved dragons, tending to a magical egg. She has raised these elemental creatures, giving them the best while she made do. But now they surround her, protecting her as she rests. Embrace your nurturing instincts and take care of yourself, and others. Spend some time doing what you love today, and let it recharge you. Reconnect with nature, take a long walk with loved ones, sharing your joy. Indulge yourself, and treat those you love, just ‘cos. Let go, if only a little. Your energies are spent on others before yourself. It’s time for self-care – let everyone take care of themselves, and take some “me” time. Indulge yourself, find a way to spoil yourself and enjoy some of the finer things in life.

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

LONGMU In Chinese mythology, Longmu’s (Lung Mo’s) dedication and devotion earned her posthumous deification. She found an egg, from which hatched five dragons – whom she fed and tended, caring for them more than herself. Her dragons saved her village during a drought, earning a summons from the Emperor. Despite her age and frailty, she travelled to meet the Emperor aft er his summons, but her dragons pulled her back to keep her safe. Th e giving, almost sacrificial devotion of Longmu made her a truly Mythical Empress!

Card of the Day – The Empress – Friday, May 17, 2019

Posted on Updated on

This week, we have just seen Venus move into home sign of Taurus, and Mars has moved into Cancer. Both are very appropriate for the mature, sensual energy associated with this nurturing Empress. She embodies the Divine Feminine and Mother Nature herself. Like Venus, she is representative of abundance; the timing is right for giving birth to something.

We are approaching a conjunction, exact tomorrow, between Venus, Goddess of Love and Money, and Uranus, planet of shock and surprise, both currently in Taurus. What happens in the next day, or so, is bound to come out of left field, completely unanticipated. Those Venus themes will be anything but predictable, and with Uranus in the mix, abundance, or the sudden lack thereof, can spin on a dime. If you think in terms of abundance, and shocking news, it is possible to see world financial markets in chaos today before the final bell rings.

See you here tomorrow!

Card of the Day – The Empress – Saturday, April 13, 2019

Posted on Updated on

The Divine Feminine…today is about all things female, whether it is a significant female in your life, or Mother Nature herself. Today could find you interacting with someone close to you, such as Mother, daughter, Aunt, cousin, sister, Mother-in-law, Sister-in-law, or even your BFF. Spend time with the woman who matters most to you in this world. It is the weekend, so activities will vary for most, and, if you are in a region currently blessed with good weather, be sure to get yourself outside, and walk around on the grass, or dirt, in your bare feet. Ground yourself. Be close to Mother Nature and the Earth.

The Empress can signify so many things, abundance being one of them, as well as birth, which of course is not limited to babies, it coud even be the birth of a new idea or endeavor in your life. You may hear of a pregnancy or birth, at this time, or receive an invitation to, or attend a baby shower. Whatever the case may be today, all things feminine rule!

See you here tomorrow!

Featured Card of the Day – The Empress – New Babylonian Tarot by Roxana Paul

Posted on Updated on

Artist: Roxana Paul

Website: http://www.roxanapaul.com

Artist Interpretation

A woman in a red dress sits on a throne with the Babylonian measuring tool in her right hand and a heraldic shield in her left hand. A bull at her feet symbolizes the Taurus period (4,320 – 2,160 BC) of the Sumerian civilization roughly dated between 3,500- 2,000 BC. She is a goddess Ninhursag (also Ninhursaga) who embodies Motherhood. According to the legend, the kings of Sumer were nourished by Ninhursag’s milk.

Card Meaning

Ninhursag, the mother of the gods, appeared in the Sumerian epic about Dilmun, an Arcadian paradise, the garden of gods, the land of immortals. Dimun anticipated the myth of Adam and Eve in Paradise from the Old Testament. In Dilmun, Enki, the wise god of magic, fell in love with Ninhursag, giving birth to a new line of gods. Participating in the creation of the humankind, Ninhursag had many titles, including “Great Queen,” “Lady of Birth,” “Mother Who Gives Birth,” “Supreme Queen,” and “Midwife of the Gods.”

The Empress, being a tender and loving woman, personalizes Motherhood and embodies all things that related to fertility, mothering, marriage, and pregnancy. She is compassionate and caring. In a general sense, she represents natural female forces, and this is how she is connected with Mother Nature. Representing earthly life, the Empress expresses an abundance of any resources and suggests material rewards.

Card of the Day – The Empress – Sunday, October 21, 2018

Posted on Updated on

The cards, while they are always interesting, have been leading toward the birth of a new chapter lately. Only last Sunday we saw the Death card, then mid-week was the 8 of Wands. Change is in the air, and things are indeed coming to fruition for many of you.  The Empress is involved today in the creation of this new phase.  Should you find yourself with any great ideas today, be certain to write them down. The desire to create abundance is definitely here, but, for now, launching new things may not be in your best interest.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the Divine Feminine. Women from all walks of life have been in the spotlight recently, and with Venus, being all about women, being currently retrograde, in Scorpio, the sign of truth, many women have come forward to speak the truth about their past. Expect this to continue as women rise up and allow their truth to set them free. This type of focus is even possible in your immediate environment, whether it is you, or a loved one or acquaintance, women will be very much on the minds of everyone.

See you here tomorrow!
