Fool

Featured Card of the Day – The Fool – Lightseer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne Donnelly

Posted on Updated on

Artist: Chris-Anne Donnelly

Key Concepts

Light Seer: new beginnings, enthusiasm, adventures, fresh opportunities, the potential to bring your dreams to life, having faith, a transitional period of awakening, optimism, innocence, light-heartedness and being spontaneous

Shadow Seer: naivety, assuming you already have the answer, rash or overly impulsive choices, lacking experience, analysis-paralysis, being bogged down, foolishness, jumping before you look

Message from the Fool

Every dream achieved begins with the seemingly ‘foolish’ notion that there is something bigger out there. Something greater. Something epic to explore and to become. This child-like optimism comes from deep within your knowing, and it reminds you that you can achieve the magical things that you’ve been dreaming about. The journey of the soul begins with you, and with you alone. The time has come to enthusiastically turn towards your new future and take a divine leap of faith in order to claim the reward that abyss is offering. You may not feel ready. You may not be ready, but there is magic in the air and the Universe is waiting to support you with infinite love and guidance. Surrendering to the call of the Fool means putting deep trust and blind faith in the unknown. It means remembering that everything is happening as it should be happening, and it means swan diving into the seed of potential with all of your curiosity in tow. Sometimes, in shadow, the Fool marks moments in life when you long for freedom and personal expression. If your life has become too conventional, go ahead and shake it up with something totally unexpected! During the genesis of something new, recklessness and impulsivity can create unnecessary obstacles on your path. Have you been ignoring good advice? Trust your instincts and tune in to both intuition and experience. Take any precautions you need to take, and prepare for a stable landing.

THE CARD’S STORY BY: JOANNA NELSON

The mysterious Yeti is a rare creature, reluctant to venture out. But with the snow blowing at his back and an urge to follow his heart, he emerges from his cavern high atop the mountain and steps to the edge. He realizes that beyond the edge is a ledge, giving him the courage to step down, and begin an exciting new journey. Bursting with potential, he is ready to embrace any opportunity this journey offers. He has no fear, thanks to his snowy companion Frosti, who will help him navigate while encouraging him to keep moving forward. Armed with a sack of resources and a renewed motivation, the mysterious Yeti embraces this new adventure one step at a time, forging his own path, ignoring uncertainty, anxiously waiting for the treasures he will discover.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

Th e Fool is wonderfully ignorant of any danger ahead of him. Unburdened and pure of heart, he steps out on a new pathway, determined to enjoy himself, and open to the possibilities and adventures before him You’re being offered a chance to make some real changes and start a new path, but it’s a choice, not a certainty. This could be an opportunity to move outside of your comfort zone – the Fool is here to suggest that you’ve gone as far as you can within your current sphere. But this is on you. You could stay, and play it safe, or you could learn more and carve out a new future for yourself. You just need to make a leap of faith and take those first few steps…

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: YETI

A yeti is a fantastical creature that appears in the myths of several countries. Stories of these wild, humanoid, snow creatures are found around the globe, from Nepal to British Columbia and North America. Th e term Yeti is found in legends of Himalayan people, depicted as a primitive man/ape who was a mountain based deity. These creatures have become the stuff of urban legend, with many people hunting and tracking sights of Bigfoot, Sasquatch and the Abominable Snowman, alongside many other names. Given the exploratory nature of Th e Fool card, we felt that a Yeti was a wonderful depiction of a pure creature taking his first steps into a larger world.

Card of the Day – The Fool – Monday, August 5, 2019

Posted on Updated on

Your next big adventure is about to begin.  Are your bags packed and ready to go?  You still have time to get ready, but not much.  There is a lack of spontaneity under today’s Libra Moon, perhaps leaving you weighing carefully what you should be taking with you for this next part of your journey.

We never see the Fool in a seated position, but it is doubtful she stays that way for long, for by mid-day tomorrow, the Moon will be moving into decisive Scorpio, and you will be ready to take that leap.  The Fool is a spontaneous, carefree, yet often naive, individual, willing to take risks, and yearning to see the world.  When the Sagittarius Moon comes along later this week, you will find yourself wide-eyed and exploring the possibilities before you.

See you here tomorrow!

Card of the Day – The Fool – Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Posted on Updated on

This is not a card I like to see during a Mercury retrograde. The normally carefree, endearing nature of the Fool gives way to a more reckless brand of behavior. Energies this week are on overload, with six retrogrades, some intense aspects, and the electric feel of being between unpredictable eclipses. Now is not the time for spontaneous adventures.

When you see the Fool during a Mercury retrograde he is here to remind you to proceed with caution. He is an indicator of accidents and the energies surrounding you this week point to those possibilities. Stick with your routine and do not wander off the beaten path. This is meant both literally and figuratively, so just take your time and arrive safely. Avoid technology such as GPS to enhance your journey as it can go awry and steer you in the wrong direction, bringing undesired consequences.

See you here tomorrow!

At times, even the most responsible among us may become a bit foolhardy, throwing caution to the wind, and dive into activities totally uncharacteristic and, perhaps even shocking. Many consider such behavior to be foolish, while others may preach “You only live once.”

Honestly, who is to say what path is the Fool’s path. Some consider the Fool to be very naive, but is he? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Allow yourself to let your hair down today, and live life as if you were seeing it through the eyes of a child. You never know where a little spontaneity may lead you.

Featured Card of the Day – The Fool – Crow Tarot by M.J. Cullinane

Artist: M.J. Cullinane

Card Meaning

Unafraid, the crow does not waiver a bit and has faith that the log and river will provide a great adventure. In the distance there is a wind blowing, whistling a warning – but the crow remains faithful knowing that despite how stormy or choppy the waters may become in the future – the log will keep her afloat. The Fool card asks that you have faith in the universe and to live fearlessly. You will come through the storm. If you allow hope to replace fear, imagine the adventures you have waiting.

Card of the Day – The Fool – Wednesday, April 10, 2019

Posted on Updated on

Ah! To be a newbie, without a care in the world, unjaded by society and life, such is our Fool. Normally a carefree, adventurous individual, the Fool has that leap-without-looking attitude, very much in line with the Sun’s current placement in Aries. Hold that thought, though, for today there is so much happening in the skies, to name a few…Jupiter begins its annual retrograde through August 11, Venus conjuncts Neptune, and the Sun will square Saturn.

Alas, it is Saturn that will turn out to be the party pooper, throwing a wet blanket on any lighter-than-air feelings for which you may have been hoping. It would appear that the curious, fearless nature of the Fool is being stymied today, making uncharted territory unaccessible. Whether it is your job, or life in general, it is more likely that you will be feeling the pressures of deadlines and To-Do Lists, leaving you feeling anything but playful. Responsibilities and the like require your attention, so while the Sun is full of fun and vitality, Saturn may leave you chained to a project. Do what is necessary to meet your objectives, and know that this energy shall soon pass, and then, like the Fool, you will be on your merry way.

Featured Card of the Day – The Fool – New Babylonian Tarot by Roxana Paul

Posted on Updated on

Artist: Roxana Paul

Website: www.roxanapaul.com

Artist Interpretation

A young man walks carefree, ignoring the apparent danger to fall over a cliff. He is the “classical” Fool with all attributes, including a little dog, a bag with his modest belongings hanged on the stick, and the white rose in his hand. The Fool is Gilgamesh, a semi-legendary king of the Sumerian city of Uruk, in the very beginning of his life path when he was arrogant and emotionally innocent, having no worries and looking for adventures. He has just started his way to rebirth and enlightenment through sufferings and obtaining knowledge.

Card Meaning

The Epic of Gilgamesh, the first written story, outperforming Homer for 1,500 years, narrates of Gilgamesh’s futile quest for immortality. His long and dangerous journey to discover the secret of eternal life changed the king. Starting as a fool, he becomes the better man, witty, inventive, and creative person. Having passed through all adversities, Gilgamesh develops loyalty and respect for the gods to become a wise and devoted king of Uruk.

This card represents the Fool’s path, following which people suppose that they move to the goal, but in fact they are absorbed by their follies, overcome obstacles that they create themselves, act impulsively without reasoning, feel safe in dangerous situations, and believe in something out of common sense. The Fool, an innocent young man with a brave heart, is in search of a new experience. Living in the moment, he is free of burdens and responsibilities. The Fool is about to start a new journey, a mission, or a quest for a new life path.
