Artist Interpretation
A young man walks carefree, ignoring the apparent danger to fall over a cliff. He is the “classical” Fool with all attributes, including a little dog, a bag with his modest belongings hanged on the stick, and the white rose in his hand. The Fool is Gilgamesh, a semi-legendary king of the Sumerian city of Uruk, in the very beginning of his life path when he was arrogant and emotionally innocent, having no worries and looking for adventures. He has just started his way to rebirth and enlightenment through sufferings and obtaining knowledge.
Card Meaning
The Epic of Gilgamesh, the first written story, outperforming Homer for 1,500 years, narrates of Gilgamesh’s futile quest for immortality. His long and dangerous journey to discover the secret of eternal life changed the king. Starting as a fool, he becomes the better man, witty, inventive, and creative person. Having passed through all adversities, Gilgamesh develops loyalty and respect for the gods to become a wise and devoted king of Uruk.
This card represents the Fool’s path, following which people suppose that they move to the goal, but in fact they are absorbed by their follies, overcome obstacles that they create themselves, act impulsively without reasoning, feel safe in dangerous situations, and believe in something out of common sense. The Fool, an innocent young man with a brave heart, is in search of a new experience. Living in the moment, he is free of burdens and responsibilities. The Fool is about to start a new journey, a mission, or a quest for a new life path.

Card of the Day – The Fool – Monday, June 11, 2018
Go ahead and go for it today! It may be a Monday, and possibly even the start to your work week, but the day calls for doing something spur-of-the-moment, perhaps totally out of character for you. We all have a tendency to become complacent in our routines, becoming predictable and generally lacking in excitement.
So, be spontaneous; it does not have to be a major move on your part, but allowing yourself to live on the edge a little, so to speak, may very well help to put the spring back in your step. The Fool is not necessarily a foolish individual, rather one who has not become jaded by life’s pitfalls; that childlike naivety is something we could all use one in a while. If all you do today is stray from your usual choice, and choose something different from the menu, then you have succeeded in your spontaneity.

Card of the Day – The Fool – Sunday, March 18, 2018
I have never repeated an image as the Tarot Card of the Day, but, in this case, I am going to make an exception. This rendition of the Fool, from Napa Valley artist, Joanna Nelson, is destined to become a classic. Everything Joanna does reflects her gentle spirit, and always shows the positive side of the Tarot. This one is for 78 Tarot Mythical, currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter. Yesterday, we had the annual New Moon in Pisces… New Moon, new beginnings, new you. Indeed, the Fool can be representative of those new beginnings.
Today, the Moon is in impulsive, headstrong Aries, so our Fool may be inclined to leap without looking. Somehow, I do not feel this is such a bad thing. You are at a point in life, where, if you desire change and progress, you really need to take that chance and step off into the world of the unknown. Will others consider you foolish? Perhaps. I do not feel you are foolish at all. You are ready for the next adventure to begin.

Card of the Day – The Fool – Saturday, February 17, 2018
Today we have another preview image from the soon-to-be-launched-on-Kickstarter deck, 78 Tarot Mythical ~ Tarot of the Imaginary. This one is from my friend, Joanna Nelson, Napa Valley artist, and creator of the Monstarot and Cat Land Oracle decks that y’all love so much. Mythical will be launching at the Northwest Tarot Sympsoium in Portland, Oregon, on March 3 and 4. How appropriate to see The Fool show up in the throes of a Solar Eclipse! Let the adventure begin!
The Fool card can represent new beginnings, and, sometimes you need to take a leap of faith in order to pursue your dreams and make them a reality. What is so endearing about the Fool is his childlike naivety; he has not yet become jaded by the many pitfalls which may lie ahead of him. Very often in life we become prisoners of our own fear because, through time, we learn by our experiences. To be able to assume the carefree attitude of the Fool, can allow one to move forward, some may say throwing caution to the wind. A grand journey awaits you; you just need to be able to take that first step into the unknown.
