Card of the Day – 8 of Wands – Tuesday, July 23, 2019

Posted on Updated on

Best. 8. of. Wands. Ever!  Scottish artist, Anita Inverarity, captures the very essence of the 8 of Wands in her depiction from a deck-in-progress, titled ‘Universal Folk Tarot’.  We will follow this deck, which I expect to be an award winner, as it makes its way to production.

The 8 of Wands denotes movement, communication, even themes such as arrows of love.  First let us talk about the movement, for today with the Sun at home in fiery Leo, Mars also continuing in Leo, and the Moon all revved up as it moves through Aries, you may feel as though you have a bit of a turboboost, urging you to keep moving, in spite of Mercury retrograde.  Yes, it is possible to make great progress right now, provided you know which projects should warrant your attention at the moment.

Insofar as communication and arrows of love, there is a wonderful conjunction building to exact tomorrow, in the late degrees of Cancer, between Mercury and Venus.  Loving words of communication are possible over the next couple of days.  You may feel compelled to declare your feelings for another, or possibly even find yourself on the receiving end.  Either way it is a win-win, provided you are not wasting your time on something that is not worthy of you.

See you here tomorrow!

Card of the Day – 4 of Cups – Monday, July 22, 2019

Posted on Updated on

If only Mondays did not feel like such a Monday!  The same old, same old, may be haunting you today, as the Universe smacks you in the face and says “Hey, you are in a rut”!  And on this Mondayest of Mondays, this feeling may not be sitting too well with you.  Chances are you have been tired of the status quo, and, thus far, have felt powerless to change it, or, at the very least, that your attempts to do so seemed to just crash and burn.

Today kicks off a week where the fire energy that drives your passions is building.  The Sun moves home to Leo today, and the Moon is in Aries, which I feel is the real culprit here, stoking your desires for change.  The 4 of Cups is a card of review, contemplation, and even meditation, asking that you assess your options, look over what no longer suits you, and to not ignore what is available to you that you may not feel is in alignment with your goals.  An offer which you do not find appealing may be exactly what the Universe ordered.  Give it a second look; no need to commit just yet, but do not ignore it completely.

See you here tomorrow!

Featured Card of the Day – Ace of Pentacles – 78 Tarot Mythical

Posted on Updated on

Keywords

Opportunities, practicality, new beginnings

Element

Earth

Astrological Association

Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

THE CARD’S STORY BY: MARY LAYTON

When I began researching the Ace of Pentacles, my first instinct was to have a Goddess delivering the Pentacle from the heavens, but as I thought more on the card’s theme of manifestation and how that can be a very personal I felt that the hand of (or a full) goddess might be superfluous. The theme of new beginnings nudged me towards butterflies, so I looked for butterfly myths and stumbled upon the Irish blessing “May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun, and find your shoulder to light on To bring you luck, happiness and riches today, tomorrow and beyond.” and the idea of that etched on a standing stone in a garden full of butterflies began to coalesce into the image I created for the Ace of Pentacles.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

An ancient stone circle stands amongst an idyllic glade, having watched its formation and growth throughout the centuries, above it a butterfly rests on a golden pentacle. This is a time for measured, grounded behavior that helps existing seeds to grow to fruition. A time to roll up your sleeves and take a practical approach to the possibilities opening up before you. Don’t rush in without thinking, expecting success to just jump into your lap. It’s not going to happen. You need to stay focused, make a plan and help your success grow, carefully, with lots of hard work!

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: STANDING STONES

Standing stones of many shapes and configurations cover the world. Whilst there are many in mainland Europe, they can also be found in the Americas, African and the middle-east. Th ere are many theories as to the original purpose of these megalithic structures, from Druidic worship to burial sites, to ancient calendars. What is certain, is that throughout history these monoliths have held a place in the hearts of the people that dwell alongside them. As the stones have witnessed the growth of the land upon which they stand throughout the ages, we felt that this embodied the idea of growth and wealth within this card.

Card of the Day – 6 of Cups – Sunday, July 21, 2019

Posted on Updated on

Under today’s dreamy Pisces Moon, it is possible to find yourself reminiscing about days gone by and those you miss.  Pick up the phone, send a text, compose an email, and let people know you are thinking of them.  As Mercury retrograde, now in Cancer, continues, thoughts of family and special memories may be prevalent.  Be sure to take some time out today to stop and smell the roses and create new memories with those you love.

The age of the selfie pic is definitely covered by the 6 of Cups, memorializing events for eternity.  Wherever you gather today, be sure to take plenty of pictures to commemorate the day.   Contact an old friend and set up  a coffee or a lunch for one day this week, and catch up on all the juicy gossip.  Scrapbooking is a great activity for a day like today.

See you here tomorrow!

Featured Card of the Day – Knight of Cups – 78 Tarot Mythical

Posted on Updated on

Keywords

Infatuation, love, romance, idealism

Element

Water

Astrological Association

Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

THE CARD’S STORY BY: NATASJA VAN GESTEL

To me, he is like a teenager, giving all when infatuated with something, but also fickle. He’s a rebel, always exploring boundaries; he loves and mourns what he can’t have with an incredibly consuming energy. This card drew some striking parallels with my own life while working on it. I chose Xochipilli, Aztec god of song, dance and love. He promotes love across all genders, which drew me to him; what other god could represent the Knight’s open nature?

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

Xochipilli stands, wishing, loving, and yearning. Love is torture, love is life, love is everything. There is so much beauty and sensuality round him, he wants to dive straight in, but where to start? Forget practicality and sensibility, if only for a while. Let yourself get swept up in the moment and dive into your emotions, look at the world with an open heart and embrace that moment when its beauty moves you to tears. See beyond the mundane, the tragedies and responsibilities that make your soul grey, and give your heart the reins! The Knight of Cups can represent a sensitive, imaginative person in your life. Romantic, charming and sometimes dramatic, they bring a world of possibilities with them, a chance to walk a different path for a time.

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: XOCHIPILLI

Xochipilli was known as the prince of flowers in Aztec, or Mesoamerican mythology, a god of the arts, of beauty and dance, games and song – of joyful, creative ways to celebrate life! A youthful character, legends tell of a fondness for mind-altering substances…in so many ways, Xochipilli was the first flower child. As an inclusive, free-spirit who seems to have been in love with love itself, he makes a perfect Knight of Cups!

Card of the Day – Death – Saturday, July 20, 2019

Posted on Updated on

Death, rebirth, and transformation, are all very Scorpionic words, as represented by today’s Death card.  We are still in Eclipse season until July 31, at the Leo New Moon, and it is possible to see the endings just keep on coming. Relationships are at the core of this current time period, with many having someone for whom they care deeply eclipsed from their lives, due to their passing. Condolences to those who have lost loved ones during this very trying period.

We are building to an opposition which will occur tomorrow, and it can already be felt, and it is possible for you to witness it playing out before your eyes.  Venus, Goddess of Love,  will oppose Pluto, death, rebirth, and transformation, leaving no shortage of intense relationship drama to unfold.  As I said above, it is all very Scorpionic, and there may be dramatic gestures of jealousy and possessiveness at play here.  Beware of those who may wish to control you through manipulation, or who exert their will over you in some form of power play.

See you here tomorrow!

Featured Card of the Day – 2 of Swords – 78 Tarot Mythical

Posted on Updated on

Keywords

Decisions, stalemate, avoidance, balance

Element

Air

Astrological Association

Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

THE CARD’S STORY BY: KYLEN BAIER

For the Two of Swords I have chosen the werewolf – the idea behind this is that there is an internal conflict between man and wolf. Th e woman is a new werewolf and hasn’t come to accept what she is and move forward by embracing her wolf side. She hides behind a blindfold and avoids the conflict. Instead it creates more conflict as the human and wolf cannot come together. Th e crossing swords belong to her two sides and they must find a balance. Th is card resonated with me as I frequently procrastinate and avoid difficult decisions because I am avoiding conflict or possible consequences to my decisions, but my avoidance always ends up making the situation worse rather than better.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

In a field of calming chamomile, a werewolf stands, poised and ready to take a step forward. But the way is blocked by two crossed swords, one belonging to each of its two forms. Not held or wielded in aggression, but still, ever present. For now, the werewolf is trapped. It may seem like putting this off is helping. You may even have managed to create some peace and quiet for yourself by doing so. But it’s not really working. It’s a temporary solution at best, but what is more likely is that you’re actually making things worse for yourself in the long run. You need to stop avoiding the issue. Instead, try taking a long, honest, hard look at the situation, and let the facts of the matter present themselves. Th en make a firm decision, and act on it!

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: WEREWOLF

The myth of the werewolf can be traced back as far as the tales of the hero Gilgamesh, and again in the ancient Greek tale of Lycaon, who angered Zeus and was turned into a wolf along with his sons. By day the creature lives as a mortal, but under the light of the full moon, they transform into a wild creature. A mixture of both human and wolf, they prowl the land looking for prey upon which to feed. Th e dual nature of this creature, living in both the world of the human and monstrous creates a truly mythical Two of Swords.

Card of the Day – The Hanged Man – Friday, July 19, 2019

Posted on Updated on

What happens when you cross Mercury Retrograde with a very long void-of-course Moon? The answer is most likely a whole lot of nothing.  In my experience, void-of-course Moons on their own tend to not be as productive, but when they occur during a Mercury Retrograde, there is a tendency to exacerbate certain situations which just leaves you hanging.  Delays of all types are possible today, including, but not limited to, detours while traveling, difficulty contacting people with whom you wish to communicate, and just an overall stalled feeling may be happening for you.

The speed bumps, or glitches, if you will, of Mercury Retrograde, may feel much more apparent to you today, but if you have planned in advance for the slow down, you can still find projects on which you can focus without repercussions  of repeated attempts to make things right.  This is a good day to take a time out, if you can, and reassess things from all angles before proceeding when the Moon enters Aquarius late in the day.

See you here tomorrow!
