Artist Interpretation:

A body pierced with ten swords lies on
the river bank. The body is covered with a
red cloth, and the picture is saturated with
red color by the last rays of the setting sun.
A close-up position of the body in the
picture focuses a spectator’s attention on the critical meanings of this card: being a victim or martyr, and experiencing tremendous misfortune. The scene also can carry indirect sense of victim mentality and
internal negativity.

Card Meaning

Ten of Swords represents a situation of the victim mentality and feeling at the lowest point. It is a point-of-no-return where it is impossible to return to previous life, and a position of self-pity where hopes are broken up.

Some unique features of this card include:

– experiencing misfortune;
– feeling dreams are broken up;
– suffering from despair;
– reaching the bottom of life.

Upright meanings:

Confusion, misery. Seeing a darker side of life, reaching a bottom.

Reversed Meanings

Beneficiary, improvement. Experiencing recovery, feeling things going better.
