It is coming, the future that is, and you need to be ready. Here we see our three little wiener dogs looking out into the harbor at sailboats headed into port. Have you ever heard the saying about “Your ship is coming in”? Well, this card is an indicator that it is on its way. While it may not be here quite yet, it is drawing closer day by day. So, what do you do? Do you sit around and wait for things to happen? Of course not.
When you see the 3 of Wands appear, it is time to prepare for the future which is on its way. This does not mean you can see the future, by the way, but it does indicate something which is known to be happening. A good example would be if you knew you were going to be moving say between now and the end of March. What would you do? There are many things, including the obvious packing, donating of unwanted items, perhaps some even plan a yard sale, but you may be moving to a new town and need to go scope things out for future reference. Often things of importance such as schools and job location are checked out before an actual commitment is made. Just think of this as a card of preparation; I like the word foresight which is often associated with the 3 of Wands, giving more of an anticipated course of action which needs to be taken. There are many situations to which this can correspond, but the bottom line is you do not sit idly by and just wait. You do.
