Card of the Day – Strength – Sunday, May 13, 2018
Happy Mother’s Day to Moms of all types out there, whether you’re doing it on your own, a Dad pulling double duty, Mom to furbabies, or even a more traditional Mom. After having the Empress card yesterday, I wondered how could we equal, or top it…the Strength card fits the bill. When we think of Mom, we typically think of an incredibly strong individual who has been our rock and our support system, no matter our age. Soft control comes to mind here. One does not need to be bossy or confrontational in a situation, and Moms everywhere have a tendency to use these methods of persuasion to keep the peace and control outcomes.
On the flip side, there are those who find themselves in situations which, if one is trying to keep the peace, they feel they must bite their tongue and refrain from verbalizing what they are really thinking. In all honesty, sometimes this is necessary in order to make one’s way through an unpleasant experience. Remember, patience is a virtue and displaying kindness toward others goes a long way to achieving your goals. You do not need to be in someone’s face in order to get your own way.

Card of the Day – Strength – Tuesday, April 24, 2018
Patience and strength go hand-in-hand with this card and there is a valuable life lesson to be learned. There will always be those who are the “beast” in your life, and how you handle your encounters with these people could be one of your most valuable tools. Let’s float the words “soft control” here for just a moment. And, keep in mind that Venus enters two-sided Gemini today.
When dealing with a difficult individual repeatedly, it is wise to take note of their patterns. What makes him/her tick? What triggers or buttons seem to set off a totally undeserved tirade? Your job is to recognize these before things are out of control. One controls the beast through gentle manipulation and persuasion; being kind is your best asset in this type of situation. However, if you have all the symptoms of being a perpetual brown-noser, you should reassess your tactics. No one likes a brown-noser, including an impossible boss or co-worker. How you react to others is what helps you to weather life’s storms. If someone in your midst is being difficult, and you are thin-skinned, flashing them a grin, or a smiley emoji, and telling them to have a nice day, is one of the least endearing things you can do. One of the most valuable lessons you can take away from the Strength card, on any given day, is that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Strength was challenging for me. While the symbolism speaks to me, it was not a card I would have picked for myself. Was I good enough? Would I succeed? The answer was in the card itself. Strength is about confidence, poise, and trust, in oneself, and one’s abilities. I wanted to stay close to the traditional symbols: a woman with flowers on her head holding a lion’s head in her grasp. I chose to represent a star pilot in her fighter gear, carrying her space helmet decorated as a roaring lion’s head. She is a seasoned warrior who knows herself and shows both the confidence and the scars of many years of experience. She does not battle the lion – she is the lioness, the picture of true inner strength.
Card Meaning
A grizzled, scarred fighter pilot carries a leonine helmet on her way to her ship. She is dynamic, strong and courageous, but not rushing. An experienced warrior, she knows better than to run into a dangerous situation without preparing. Her scars show that she has learned as much, if not more, from past failures, as from her successes. And here she is again, ready to fight again as needed. Knowing that her armor and helmet have seen her through before, they will give her the strength she needs again.
When this card appears in a reading, it is reminding you that you have wells of inner strength that you’ve not even tapped into yet. You have the power to endure and keep going without rushing in thoughtlessly. No matter how tempting it is. You will get much further by not forcing the issue. Understanding, patience and resilience are what is needed.

Card of the Day – Strength – Friday, June 2, 2017
Often known for patience and strength, this card is so much more than that. It is primarily about soft control in a particular situation. While you may wish to obtain the upper hand, brute force is not the answer, in most cases. Controlling without appearing to will take you much further toward your goal.
The sayings “Kill them with kindness”, and “You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” are very much associated with this card. Learn to sweet talk your way into what you want, rather than demanding to get your own way. Some of you may find you need to bite your tongue with a certain issue, as right now is simply not the proper time to say anything. This can leave you feeling as though you are walking on eggshells, but it won’t stay this way forever. Patience.
