Artist Interpretation
I really loved the chance to create the Five of Wands this year.
The Five of Wands is all about diversity and clashing opinions and arguments, without coming to blows. I feel like it’s the perfect card for the global climate… passionate discord with a resolution seeming so far away. It’s an even more interesting theme with an astral futuristic project. To push the diverse interests, I focused on multiple species of living beings, and gave them energy staves.
Card Meaning
Against a backdrop of chaos and city-wide destruction, five figures stand, crackling energy staves in their hands. This is a standoff. There appear to be no allies here, all are different races and creeds, no one willing to give an inch, despite one of the aliens holding his hand out, seeming to plead for calmer heads to prevail. It has not come to blows so far, though, this may all be bluster and positioning, waiting to see who will come out on top…
When this card appears in a reading, it is warning you that today is going to be one of those days….the kind that makes you wonder why you even got out of bed. Irritations and annoyances are all around you, and it seems that anything that can go wrong is doing so…and how! Right now, all you can control is your attitude, and how you face this will make a huge difference – will you get down, and let it get to you? Or will you see it as a challenge, and turn it to your advantage? Remember that problems make us stronger, and competition sharpens our skills, helping us grow. How we manage our trials says more about us than what caused the problem to occur in the first place. If you’re facing pettiness, rise above it, take the higher ground and see how that works out.
