Artist Interpretation
In a Babylonian palace’s chamber where walls decorated with bas-reliefs a man sits and coaches two dogs. A woman and man converse in the passageway and a spectator can see a child behind them. Ten pentacles form the Tree of Life on the wall. The Babylonians used to keep dogs in their palaces and houses not only for hunting but also for esoteric reasons. They believed that dogs had a psychic vision and could see ghosts and unseen dangers. They even supposed that dogs had mystical ability to protect their owners not only in this life but also beyond the grave.
