Social media has exacerbated the competitive streak in many people, always looking to outdo the next person, and to come out on the top of the heap, no matter what. A great deal of emphasis is placed on likes, follows, and where you stand in all of it. Truth be told, the only person you need to be better than is the one you were yesterday. Engaging in a battle to be the best at something can often cause you to lose sight of what truly matters. 

The 5 of Swords is a card of victory, defeat, competition, and battles, winning at all costs, and wanting all of those highly-coveted swords for yourself. There is much to be said for knowing what is really in your best interest.
