Independent, composed, intelligent
I painted the Queen of Sword for the astral deck. I painted her wearing a crystal crown to illustrate her clarity of thought, but also her crown would give her a way to absorb and reflect the energy around her. To represent how she absorbs information before she makes any choices.
She rules a land that is lost, as shown by her post-apocalyptic attire and the ruins behind her and she has to weigh up every decision very carefully.
A detached queen looks down, deep in thought. In her hand is a dual-edged sword…held high, but idly….her focus is wholly on the matter at hand, considering carefully all the options open to her before she acts. Without realizing it, the position of the sword in her hand makes it appear as though it cuts through the moon itself as it rises.
When this card appears in a reading, it is suggesting that it’s time to let your head take charge. Don’t dismiss your emotions, but don’t rely on them to make your decisions, either. The presence of the moon shows that things are not necessarily as they appear – logic is required, to cut through to the heart of the situation – sentiment could muddy the issue, and you need to make sure that you understand all the possible hidden motives at play here.
The Queen of Swords can signify someone you know, who is a plain talker, a sharp thinker who can walk into a room and quickly size up what is going on, and what they need to find out more about. They are honest, but never brutally so, managing to tell even hard truths in an understanding way. They will not tolerate games, lies, or manipulations, and while their demeanor may be warm and even gentle at times, they are no one’s fool!
