A phoenix is a magnificent bird, that lived an extremely long life, and when it eventually died, was then reborn (or regenerated) from its own ashes. Versions of this bird appear in many legends, including Greek, Egyptian, Chinese and Native American mythologies. In nearly all of these tales, the phoenix is a beautiful bird associated with either the sun, or fire. Given the radiance of the phoenix in virtually all legends in which it appears, we felt that this was a perfect sunbird for our Mythical deck!
