Stability, abundance, authority
Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
THE CARD’S STORY BY: JEREMIAS COLMENARES
I decided to use a Kirin, because the Kirin is the king of the beasts, so it’s the best companion for a king! This creature represents the abundance and prosperity of the King of Pentacles card. The King of Pentacles tells us of a man wise in control and in rich material abundance, so I decided to draw him with a silver beard to represent the years of learning, with fruits and gold coins all over. His rich armor and fine fabrics give him the royal and sophisticated appearance of a king, with a big gold coin in his hand, a symbol of his material influence.
THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN
The King of Pentacles stands among his riches, a trusted Kirin by his side. He is not locked away in his castle, seeking safety, but instead, stands ready to defend himself and his property, whatever it takes. Success takes hard work. Your experience and achievements have grounded you – you’ll need that now. Find the opportunities before you, understanding that you need to work through the challenges practically and methodically to get what you want. You make it look easy, but you know just how much effort it will take… The King of Pentacles can also suggest a successful, but generous person in your life, or coming into it. This person works, and plays hard, remembering their struggles, and giving back easily as much as they receive, in terms of wealth and energy.

In Asian mythology, a Kirin is a symbol of prosperity that appears in a wide range of cultures, including Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. These hooved creatures appear in different forms, from dragons, to deer or giraffe like animals and possess great power. Given that the Kirin (or Qilin in Chinese) have a deep-seated connection to prosperity, and oft en accompany a great ruler, this was a perfect companion for a Mythical King of Pentacles.
