THE CARD’S STORY BY: MARY LAYTON
When I began researching the Ace of Pentacles, my first instinct was to have a Goddess delivering the Pentacle from the heavens, but as I thought more on the card’s theme of manifestation and how that can be a very personal I felt that the hand of (or a full) goddess might be superfluous. The theme of new beginnings nudged me towards butterflies, so I looked for butterfly myths and stumbled upon the Irish blessing “May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun, and find your shoulder to light on To bring you luck, happiness and riches today, tomorrow and beyond.” and the idea of that etched on a standing stone in a garden full of butterflies began to coalesce into the image I created for the Ace of Pentacles.
THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN
An ancient stone circle stands amongst an idyllic glade, having watched its formation and growth throughout the centuries, above it a butterfly rests on a golden pentacle. This is a time for measured, grounded behavior that helps existing seeds to grow to fruition. A time to roll up your sleeves and take a practical approach to the possibilities opening up before you. Don’t rush in without thinking, expecting success to just jump into your lap. It’s not going to happen. You need to stay focused, make a plan and help your success grow, carefully, with lots of hard work!
MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION: STANDING STONES
Standing stones of many shapes and configurations cover the world. Whilst there are many in mainland Europe, they can also be found in the Americas, African and the middle-east. Th ere are many theories as to the original purpose of these megalithic structures, from Druidic worship to burial sites, to ancient calendars. What is certain, is that throughout history these monoliths have held a place in the hearts of the people that dwell alongside them. As the stones have witnessed the growth of the land upon which they stand throughout the ages, we felt that this embodied the idea of growth and wealth within this card.
