THE CARD’S STORY BY: MICHAEL BANKS

Th is beautiful night goddess looks to be in trouble but things aren’t always what they seem. She is willingly caught up in the string that connects her to her dreams and will do whatever it takes even when they are flattened. Th is strong willed bat will hang in there and persevere till a new resolution has come to mind to achieve her vision and rise like the sun.

THE CARD’S MESSAGE BY TRISH SULLIVAN

Evaki hangs from a branch, seemingly tethered, but as a bat, hanging like this is nothing to her, she welcomes the chance to see things from a different point of view. How is your current plan of action going? Could it be better? Make some time to get away from the task at hand, and think things through. Look at the bigger picture, and consider all the options open to you, even those you’ve rejected before. Try a change of perspective, and see if it helps take you in a different, more beneficial direction. Open your mind and visualise how things might work out if you make modifications to your plan. What sacrifices are you willing to make, in order to succeed?

MYTHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION:  EVAKI

Evaki is a South American goddess, oft en represented as a bat. Primarily she was the goddess of night and day, but also of darkness and sleep. She was the keeper of the Sun, one of her jobs was to release the Sun every morning from a jar, and letting it begin a journey across the sky, and then she would recapture it every night and put it away again. She is portrayed as a character of opposites, a strong personality willing to face both sides of an issue, and we felt she was an appropriate figure for this card.
