‘Murphy’s Law’ is an old adage which is often learned during the formative years of life. In essence, it means “anything which can possibly go wrong, will go wrong.” Enter the 9 of Swords, the stuff of nightmares, the thoughts which keep you awake at night going over every scenario, no matter how crazy, which will produce an unwanted outcome. Experience can be a cruel teacher, causing one to become jaded, and tending to exacerbate the need to worry over every little thing. Pretty much, all this unfounded worrying creates an individual who is too tired to deal with real life during the day. One of the most important lessons you can take from this card is thoughts are things, and in this realization, negativity can beget negativity.
The 9 of Swords is all of the things referenced, and wants you to consider how much better off you would be, if you could stop the flow of fear which you have been conditioned to feel. If you are waiting for the other shoe to drop, chances are, it likely will. Put better sleep practices into place, and remind yourself to be grateful for the things which do go right.
