This is typically a defensive position, and you are certainly not backing down from your position, but at the same time, it would appear as though others have come on board. Remember, the other day we even discussed people of adversarial positions seeing eye-to-eye in a particular situation.
It would appear that your cause is gathering momentum, and that you have the support of others around you, rather than feeling as though you are taking a me-against-the-world stance. Perhaps now something can truly be accomplished for the greater good. Use your position, if you have one, to preach your cause, whether from a pulpit or a soapbox, and let your message be heard.
